Rosolo MW1 - Melmac MW1

REUSEL | September 30, 2020
With healthy tension, the Melmac midweek women's team left for Reusel on Wednesday evening for the second match, with some fresh tips in mind from Jan from Monday training as to whether defending behind or in front would work better at Rosolo - or as I put it: Rosóólóó.
The “warming up” started when the ten of us were able to sit comfortably together in two cars. Once I arrived at a field in a village I had never heard of, the tension started to increase. In search of the dressing room we walked through the beautiful recreational nature of Reusel, which reminded me of camping at Center Parcs - there were even signs showing where the field was located. Once changed and ready to play, we had a few nice team photos taken by the opponent's coach and then the whistle started the match. For Mandy, this match was half a home match, because she would be playing against acquaintances from “back home”. Loss would become a personal defeat - and that had to be avoided at all costs. The long shots flew in at a high pace, with certainly not a bad first half of 3-5 lead for Melmac. Amy, as coach, gave an optimistic pep talk at half-time: it went very well, but we still had to finish the balls calmly.
With a cup of tea, the ladies flew back onto the field where Rosolo had been waiting for a while. You could clearly notice that our new team was better attuned to each other, because the people of Reusel were not spared. Final score 6-13 win, a great performance! The win was accompanied by the enjoyment of a box of chocolates in no fewer than two available dressing rooms. The chocolate was actually bought as a thank you for borrowing Kim's car, but Lieke was able to drive at the last minute (thanks Lieke!). The realization that there might be two changing rooms only came during the shower when the lights in the shower in one of the changing rooms did not come on. Unfortunately we were not able to enjoy the win with a nice closing drink, but here is Anne W's tip: just bring a bottle of wine that you can drink in the shower - you don't need a canteen for it. And the drinks songs also come in the car: let Lieke be the DJ and sing along to her own Melmac version of Blub, I'm a fish.
